Distance Learning Paths of Geography Teachers at UFRN

Resumo: The study is outlined by the fact that in recent years Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have contributed to the growth of Distance Education (EAD). From this scenario, legal government actions emerged that strengthened and boosted the teacher training policy. In this context, the article exposes the teacher training policy in the distance education modality in Brazil and, finally, enters the main objective of the article: to analyze the itineraries of the insertion of the Degree in Geography at a distance at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The methodology used was to arry out qualitative and quantitative research on government websites, electronic journals and scientific articles to build the theoretical foundation. As a conclusion of the study, it was found that the legal bases strengthened the technological implementation, providing a significant increase in the number of professors trained by UFRN, mainly due to the capillarity of the offer of courses and the relevant convenience provided by ICT for undergraduates who graduated from distance.     Keywords: Distance education. Undergraduate in geography.O estudo se delineia pelo fato de que nos últimos anos as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) têm contribuído para o crescimento da Educação a Distância (EAD). A partir desse cenário, surgiram ações governamentais legais que fortaleceram e impulsionaram a política de formação de professores. Nesse contexto, o artigo expõe a política de formação de professores na modalidade de educação a distância no Brasil e, por fim, entra no objetivo principal do artigo: analisar os itinerários da inserção do Curso de Licenciatura em Geografia (EaD) na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). A metodologia utilizada foi a realização de pesquisas qualitativas e quantitativas em sites governamentais, periódicos eletrônicos e artigos científicos para construção da fundamentação teórica. Como conclusão do estudo, constatou-se que as bases legais fortaleceram a implementação tecnológica, proporcionando um aumento significativo no número de docentes formados pela UFRN, principalmente devido à capilaridade da oferta de cursos e a relevante conveniência proporcionada pelas TIC para graduandos que se formaram a distância.     Palavras-chave: Educação a distância.
