Resumo: Recognizing the role that the school plays in students’ learning, based on the idea of school effectiveness, and without disregarding students’ social background, the present article discusses the relationship between the internal and external factors of schools, presenting the effects that school climate, in its normative context, has on student performance in the large-scale assessment system in the state of Acre in 2012.
