Resumo: | The subject of this paper is homework as a factor for interaction between the family and school. An argument is made that by fostering "parent" participation in the school, especially through homework, inequality in educational results tends to increase, because families have unequal material and cultural conditions, and this duty has a direct or indirect impact on upholding academic performance, or rather, student grades. Homework constitutes symbolic violence in some cases, because it imposes the academic culture on the home, regulating the domestic/private life, prescribing parental roles according to family model and values from the middle and dominant classes. |

Argumenta que o incentivo à participação dos “pais” na escola, sobretudo via dever de casa, tende a aumentar as desigualdades de resultados educacionais, porque as famílias têm condições materiais e culturais desiguais, e o dever impacta direta ou indiretamente a aferição do aproveitamento escolar, isto é, as notas dos/das estudantes. A lição de casa constitui violência simbólica, em alguns casos, porque impõe a cultura acadêmica ao lar, regulando a vida doméstica/privada, prescrevendo papéis parentais, segundo um modelo de família e valores das camadas médias e dominantes.
