Institutionalization of the EAD in Higher Education: the case of a Distance Course of Specialization in Educational Management of UFSM/UAB

Resumo: | The article discusses the institutionalization of Distance Education (EAD) at the Federal University of Santa Maria (RS) as the implementation of the Specialization Course in Distance Education Management, implemented in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (UAB), is discussed in view of the first class of graduates of this course. After the exposure of the contextual approach of the course in its Pedagogical Project, the focus is based on the perspective of graduates who, originating from two poles located in the southern and northeastern Brazil, express their perceptions about the reasons that led them to choose a course in distance mode, the expectations on entering the course, relations between students, tutors and teachers as well as the contributions of the educational management course for personal and professional training. The act of listening to the subjects who experienced the process of training through the mediation allowed through a virtual learning environment constitutes an important tool for thinking about the necessary referrals for the institutionalization of a distance learning course considering the interaction between the subjects involved, proper planning for the care of local and regional peculiarities in order to promote the overcoming of still limited visions of the management process. |

Despues del abordaje contextual del curso expuesto en su Proyecto Pedagogico el enfoque se orienta bajo la perspectiva de los egresados provenientes de dos polos, uno ubicado en la region sur y otro, en la region del noreste brasileño, que manifiestan sus percepciones sobre las razones de haber elegido un curso a distancia, las expectativas que tuvieron al ingresar en tal curso, las relaciones establecidas entre los alumnos, tutores y profesores, asi como las contribuciones del curso de gestion educacional para la formacion personal y profesional. El acto de oir a los sujetos que vivieron el proceso de formacion profesional a traves de la mediacion virtual de aprendizaje se constituyo en un importante instrumento para poder pensar en las referencias necesarias para la institucionalizacion de un curso a distancia teniendo en cuenta la interaccion entre los sujetos involucrados, la planificacion adecuada para atender las peculiaridades locales y regionales con el objeto de promover la superacion de visiones del proceso de gestion que todavia son limitadas.O artigo aborda a institucionalização da Educação a Distância (EAD) na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (RS) quando a implementação do Curso de Especialização a Distância em Gestao Educacional, executado em parceria com a Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB), e debatida na visao dos egressos da primeira turma deste curso. Apos a abordagem contextual do curso exposta em seu Projeto Pedagogico o enfoque pauta-se na perspectiva dos egressos que, originarios de dois polos situados na regiao sul e na regiao nordeste brasileira, manifestam suas percepcoes sobre os motivos que os levaram a escolher um curso na modalidade a distância, as expectativas ao ingressar no curso, relacoes estabelecidas entre alunos, tutores e professores, bem como as contribuicoes do curso de gestao educacional para a formação pessoal e profissional.
