Resumo: | The elderly’s vulnerability processes were analyzed based on the association between physical and psychological health conditions, perceived social support, financial contribution and head leadership through cluster analysis. One hundred and thirty-four participants were interviewed at home. Cluster analyses were performed using the partition method, and based on the Chi-square and Fisher exact tests (p ≤ 0.05), comparisons were made between the variables that comprised the clusters. The basic activities of daily living, the number of self-reported signs and symptoms and instrumental activities of daily living were the variables that most contributed to the formation of the clusters. Greater health vulnerability was observed in long-lived elderly, with dependence for activities of daily living, with worse psychological and health conditions, with low social support, low social participation and overload in the exercise of family responsibilities. |

One hundred and thirty-four participants were interviewed at home. Greater health vulnerability was observed in long-lived elderly, with dependence for activities of daily living, with worse psychological and health conditions, with low social support, low social participation and overload in the exercise of family responsibilities.
