KNOWLEDGE ON MOUTH RESPIRATION BY PEDAGOGY UNDERGRADUATES

Resumo: | Knowledge of Pedagogy undergraduates on mouth respiration caused by nasal obstruction is investigated. Assay comprised 316 undergraduates of a government university in the northwestern region of the state of Paraná, Brazil. A questionnaire was applied with open and closed questions on allergic rhinitis, hypertrophy of the pharynx tonsils, mouth respiration and its implications in learning. Results show that students have only a scanty idea on allergic rhinitis and very little information on the hypertrophy of the pharynx tonsils and mouth respiration. Professional formation is basic for the teacher to identify and guide the student with mouth respiration to consult the doctor and thus prevent the organic abnormalities and learning difficulties caused by this type of respiration. |

Participaram do estudo 316 acadêmicos de uma instituição de ensino superior pública do noroeste do Paraná. Foi aplicado um questionário contendo questões abertas e fechadas para a investigação do conhecimento dos acadêmicos sobre a rinite alérgica, a hipertrofia das tonsilas faríngeas, a respiração oral e suas implicações na aprendizagem escolar. Os resultados demonstraram que os alunos possuem conhecimentos superficiais sobre a rinite alérgica e pouquíssimas informações sobre a hipertrofia das tonsilas faríngeas e a respiração oral.
