Resumo: | The Environmental Education is an instrument that can contribute to the achievement of sustainable development through programs or school projects. This article illustrates the activities undertaken by 14 students, with ages among 10 to 13 years, in the Social Action Department of Colégio Cruzeiro, RJ, related to the topic Garbage in the year 2007. The analysis concluded that the development of the project provided students a major changing in the perception of waste, as the construction of an ecological awareness. |

A Educação Ambiental é um instrumento que pode contribuir para a concretização do desenvolvimento sustentável, através de programas ou projetos escolares. O presente artigo ilustra as atividades desenvolvidas por 14 alunos, com idades entre 10 e 13 anos, do Departamento de Ação Social do Colégio Cruzeiro, RJ, relacionadas com o tema Lixo, no ano de 2007. A análise dos resultados permitiu concluir que o desenvolvimento do projeto proporcionou aos alunos tanto uma grande mudança na percepção em relação ao lixo, quanto à construção de uma consciência ecológica.
