Resumo: The atmosphere is essential for life on Earth, as it maintains the conditions necessary for the survival of living beings. However, in recent decades, as a result of human actions, we are experiencing changes in the Earth's thermal balance and, as a consequence, drastic changes are occurring in several global biomes. These changes are related to changes in the concentration of atmospheric gases, in particular, in the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which raise the world temperature. This change in atmospheric composition alters the greenhouse effect and contributes to global warming, resulting in climate changes, the intensity of storms, melting of polar ice caps, intensification of periods of drought and heat waves, changes in the flow of rivers, among other things. In view of the above, it is necessary for high school students to understand the changes in the current world scenario and their impact on future generations. For this reason, the objective of the present study was to understand students' perception of the influence of the increase in greenhouse gases and their contribution to global warming, identifying the consequences of these processes for the Amazon region. The study was carried out in a state school located in the south of Manaus, with students in the first and second year of high school. This is research with a mixed approach, predominantly qualitative, carried out by surveying students' prior knowledge, carrying out dialogued expository classes, research, guided study, production of models, preparation of a booklet and a game on the topic in question. The data analysis was descriptive and as a result it was verified that it is necessary to continue raising awareness among students about their role in environmental conservation. The research results were disseminated to the school community.
