Resumo: Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is defined by a difficulty in communication and intrinsic social interaction. ASD is categorized by a disorder with different levels of severity, which are described as poor interaction and intrinsic social communication, stereotyped and repetitive patterns of interest or behavior. Its diagnosis is essentially clinical. More common in males, being 4-5 times more common than in females. Objectives: To conduct a review on the quality of life of caregivers of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Methods: This is an exploratory and descriptive bibliographic review. The data collection procedures were carried out in a mixed character, in a literature review with data collected in articles found in databases National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Scientific Eletronic Library (Scielo) and VHL (Virtual Health Library) after locating health descriptors on the DeCS and MeSHs platforms. Articles from the last 5 years (2015-2020) were included for updating works in English, Portuguese and Spanish, which contained the descriptors “autism spectrum disorder”, “quality of life” and “caregivers”. Researches used in the form scientific articles from journals. Articles that do not meet the theme were excluded; who had reduced (less than 5) or methodology to be considered inadequate. Results: 185 articles were found with the descriptors “autism spectrum disorder”, “caregivers” and “quality of life” and after submitting them to the exclusion criteria, 11 articles remained. It was seen that the parents of the autistic have higher levels of stress, anxiety and depression; that mothers are dissatisfied with their overall health level; whereas health and education costs are often a burden on parents' finances; that parents feel the weight of judgment, looks and prejudice towards their children; that the path to reach the diagnosis is painful. Final considerations: We see the importance of new reviews and additional research in the context of assessing quality of life, general health characteristics, psychosocial aspects and well-being of caregivers of autism, so that this can have an important impact on caregivers regarding acceptance of diagnosis, adaptation, care management and self-management of stress do autismo, para que isso possa ter impacto importante sobre os cuidadores com relação à aceitação do diagnóstico, adaptação, gestão do cuidado e autogestão de estresse
