Resumo: | Water is a key resource for the industry and the availability of this resource for many industries, it is essential to being a limiting shortage of productivity and may result in the nonviability of the business, but the industry is also largely responsible for the pollution of water resources not only by the physical and chemical characteristics of the effluent generated in industrial processes, but due to the large volume of wastewater discharged into the environment. Thus, with the growing reduction of water availability, recycling and the reuse of wastewater emerge as an alternative in the management of water resources. This research focuses on the evaluation of the feasibility of reuse of industrial wastewater treated in the production process of a printing industry, with the main benefits the reduction in volumes of industrial effluent discharge to the environment in addition to the environmental and financial benefits due to reduction water consumption. The methodology is characterized as qualitative and quantitative characterization and consisted of the production process with identification of consumers of water and wastewater-generating activities, as well as definition of a quality standard for water used in the printing industry and evaluation of the adequacy of the process effluent treatment aimed use of treated wastewater in the industrial process. As a result of the research has come up the default quality setting for reuse, hitherto undefined for printing industry, and it was found that, with the treatment process currently used by the industry, the reuse of the treated effluent is not feasible due to not meeting the quality conditions. The determining parameters for evaluating the feasibility of reusing were alkalinity, hardness, pH, Conductivity, Total hardness, sulphate, nitrate and chlorine. It was found that the treated effluent has above the limit values for Total Hardness parameters, conductivity and alkalinity. This result testified to the need for investment in tertiary treatment processes enabling technologies for the reuse. The feasibility of reuse can mean up to 40% reduction in water consumption, resulting in annual savings of approximately R $ 57,000.00 for the industry in question. |
