Resumo: | This study evaluated the action of endodontics pastes formulated with calcium hydroxide P.A. and different vehicles (physiological solution – paste A, Pterodon emarginatus Vogel oil - paste B and Copaifera langsdorffii Desfon oil - paste C) against oral microorganisms, and on bridge dentin formation in dogs. The antimicrobial action of the pastes and their individual components were evaluated by the technique of determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) by agar dilution. The materials were diluted at concentrations of 0,5%, 1,0%, 2,0% and 4,0%, and evaluated against fifteen standard strains of aerobic, microaerophilic, anaerobic and facultative anaerobes microorganisms that are related to endodontic diseases. The microrganisms were grown in ideal conditions and, after incubation, the data were obtained and analyzed (Anova One-Way, Tukey, p≤0,05). For the assessment of dentin bridge formation, six upper incisors of ten animals were treated, being the right side and the middle capped with paste A (Group A), the central right and left with paste B (Group B) and the medial and left lateral side teeth with paste C (Group C). After 90 days, the teeth were extracted to obtain histological sections, with the objective of evaluating the degree of dentin bridge formation. The data were subjected to statistical analysis (Kruskal-Wallis, p≤0,05). According to the antimicrobial action, the materials were classified in the following decrescent order: calcium hydroxide P.A., paste A, paste C, paste B, Pterodon emarginatus Vogel oil, and Copaifera langsdorffii Desfon oil, with statistically significant differences between the hydroxide calcium P.A., pastes, and vehicle (p ≤ 0,05). At the end of experimental time, it was observed that the three pastes were similar in relation to the formation of dentin bridge. Considering the microorganisms selected for this study, it was concluded that the pastes were similar in terms of antimicrobial potential, differing from the individual components (p≤0,05). Regarding to the formation of dentin bridge, at the end of experimental period, there were no significant differences between the teeth treated with different pastes. |
