Liderança autêntica e tomada de decisão: um estudo sobre o relacionamento entre a autenticidade e os estilos decisórios

Resumo: | Organizations are becoming increasingly competitive and constantly seeking ways to increase their performance by understanding the factors behind this performance. Among the many factors that precede performance, the present study focused on two, the leadership profile and the decision-making style. The quantitative exploratory study involved 303 individuals from different personal and professional profiles, with the objective of investigating the relationship between the dimensions of authentic leadership with five distinct decision - making styles. What was sought was how individuals reacted to different situations represented by 16 variables, which identified the degree of authenticity of the leadership, and how they responded to the other 10 variables related to decision-making styles. The independence of the hierarchical level in this research was highlighted by the fact that all individuals have a style of leadership, whether or not they are led through a formal hierarchy of work, and that all individuals make decisions constantly in their daily lives in organizations, regardless of whether they engage in an operational, tactical or strategic activity. From the statistical tests used, it was possible to verify the following results: (a) authentic leaders have a significant relationship with rational decision-making style, and (b) the inclination of individuals to have more than one predominant decision-making style. It was also possible to make several observations related to the gender, the age and professional experience of the respondents, who, although not being the main focus of the research, added knowledge about the subject studied. It is important to emphasize that the subject still requires a lot of research, because it is complex and extensive, but that the results obtained in this study contributed to broaden the discussion and bring insight to new research involving authentic leadership and different decisionmaking styles. The present study contributes to the development and evolution of positive organizational studies. |

The present study contributes to the development and evolution of positive organizational studies.As organizações estão se tornando cada vez mais competitivas e buscando, constantemente, formas de aumentar o seu desempenho através da compreensão dos fatores antecedentes a esse desempenho. Dentre inúmeros fatores que antecedem o desempenho, o presente estudo centrou-se em dois, o perfil de liderança e o estilo decisório. O estudo, de carácter quantitativo exploratório envolveu 303 indivíduos, de diferentes perfis pessoais e profissionais com o objetivo de investigar a relação entre as dimensões da liderança autêntica com cinco estilos decisórios distintos. O que se buscou analisar foi como os indivíduos reagiam a diferentes situações representadas por 16 variáveis, que identificavam o grau de autenticidade da liderança, e como reagiam a outras 10 variáveis relacionadas com os estilos decisórios. A independência de nível hierárquico nesta pesquisa foi ressaltada pelo fato de todos os indivíduos possuírem um estilo de liderar, tendo ou não liderados através de uma hierarquia formal de trabalho, e pelo fato de todos os indivíduos tomarem decisões constantemente no seu dia a dia nas organizações, independente de exercerem uma atividade operacional, tática ou estratégica. A partir de testes estatísticos empregados, foi possível verificar os seguintes resultados: (a) os líderes autênticos possuem uma relação significativa com o estilo decisório racional, e (b) a inclinação dos indivíduos em ter mais de um estilo decisório predominante. Foi ainda possível fazer várias observações relacionadas com o gênero, a idade e experiência profissional dos respondentes, que, apesar de não ser foco principal da pesquisa, agregaram conhecimento sobre o assunto estudado. É importante ressaltar que o assunto ainda requer muita pesquisa, por ser complexo e extenso, mas que os resultados obtidos neste estudo contribuíram para ampliar a discussão e trazer insights para novas pesquisas envolvendo a liderança autêntica e os diferentes estilos decisórios.
