Resumo: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as theinability to obtain and maintain sufficient penile erection for satisfactory sexual intercourse (HATZIMOURATIDIS et al., 2010).. Among the male sexual dysfunctions, erectile dysfunction is the mos tfrequent, especially among the elderly, from the age of 60 according to the WHO, which are the focus of this research. Many factors are involved in the development of ED, such as sedentary lifestyle, macho ideals about the virility of men, diseases associated with bad habits of life and the "fear of failure", since with the arrival of senescence sexuality tends to change, requesting more tender ways to ascend the sexual appetite, a method by which patriarchy is not accustomed. However, there are therapies developed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and as a primary focus, electrostimulation.

Dentre as disfunções sexuais masculinas a disfunção erétil é a mais frequente, sobretudo dentre os idosos, a partir dos 60 anos segundo a OMS, que são o foco desta pesquisa. Muitos fatores estão envolvidos no desenvolvimento da DE, tais como o sedentarismo, ideais machistas a respeito da virilidade do homem, doenças associadas aos maus hábitos de vida e o “medo de falhar”, já que com a chegada da senescência a sexualidade tende a mudar, solicitando formas mais ternas para a ascender o apetite sexual, método pelo qual o patriarcado não está acostumado.
