The philosophy in library science courses in Brazil: a study on the most recurrent areas and authors in the curriculum

The general objective of this research is to analyze the application of philosophy teaching in Librarianship courses in Brazil. To understand this important relationship between Librarianship and the teaching of Philosophy, an initially quantitative survey was carried out, so that, later, qualitative reflections are presented that analyze the impact of humanistic disciplines on the training of librarians. Based on these studies, it was first possible to understand that the importance of these philosophical disciplines in Librarianship courses suggests professional training beyond the technical scope, enabling professionals to act in social, political and cultural dimensions, developing a critical view of the social organizations and work environments. Librarianship, as a branch of information science, is based on its ability to record, store, and store crucial information for the development of knowledge. And, the teaching of Philosophy in these courses, through its demand for demonstration, rationalization and exposition, stimulates the courage of professionals in librarianship to think correctly about matters in this area of ​​knowledge.
