Nonpartisan School Movement (ESP): elements of teachers’ social representations

Resumo: This article aims to identify the social representations built by high school teachers about the “Nonpartisan School” (ESP, Brazilian acronym) movement. The Theory of Social Representations was taken as a reference for the research. Fifteen high school teachers from the Pernambuco State city of Recife and surrounding cities participated in the study. The collection procedures used included questionnaires and interviews. The material was processed by the IRAMUTEQ software, which generated a word cloud and a figure (similarity analysis). The results revealed the following elements of the social representation of ESP: the teacher as a central target of the attacks proposed by the movement, the neutral position of teachers, and the lack of information about ESP. We suggest that initiatives be particularly taken by trade unions to provide teachers with further explanation about ESP and its implications. Keywords: Nonpartisan School Movement (ESP). Teacher.O artigo tem, como objetivo, identificar as representações sociais construídas por docentes do Ensino Médio a respeito do movimento “Escola Sem Partido” (ESP).  A Teoria das Representações Sociais foi tomada como referencial para a pesquisa. Participaram do estudo 15 docentes de Ensino Médio de Recife-PE e Região Metropolitana. Os procedimentos de coleta utilizados foram questionário e entrevista. O material foi processado pelo software IRAMUTEQ, que gerou uma nuvem de palavras e uma figura (análise de similitude). Os resultados apontam como elementos de representação social do ESP: o professor como figura central dos ataques propostos pelo movimento, posição de neutralidade dos docentes e a falta de informações sobre o ESP. Sugere-se que sejam tomadas iniciativas, sobretudo, por parte dos sindicatos junto aos professores, a fim de oferecer maiores esclarecimentos sobre o ESP e suas implicações.
