Human Beings’ Paradoxes as a Challenge to Education

Resumo: | There are important paradoxes related to the understanding of human beings. The problem that this article focuses on is the existence of paradoxes concerning human beings. We select two paradoxes for this research: 1. To become a whole human being considering that a human being is already whole, 2. Achievement of freedom by human beings who are already born free. The objectives are to bring this discussion to the realm of education and to contribute for educators to think more deeply about their students since they are human beings. These two paradoxes are analyzed from an educational perspective. The theoretical foundation is mainly composed of Maritain’s philosophy and von Hildebrand’s philosophy. Both ask about the human being and offer elements not only to philosophy itself, but also for education. The methodological approach is Ricoeur’s hermeneutics. We have concluded that these two paradoxes can be solved through education. Research about this subject must continue. |

O problema desse artigo é a existência de paradoxos concernentes ao ser humano. Selecionamos dois paradoxos para essa pesquisa: 1)Tornar-se um ser humano completo se um ser humano já é completo;2) Conquista da liberdade por seres humanos que já nascem livres. Os objetivos são trazer a discussão para a Educação e contribuir com educadores para pensarem mais sobre seus educandos porque são seres humanos. Esses dois paradoxos são analisados na perspectiva da Educação. A fundamentação teórica está baseada principalmente na filosofia de Maritain e na filosofia de von Hildebrand. Ambos indagam sobre o ser humano e oferecem elementos não só para a própria filosofia, mas também para a Educação. A abordagem metodológica é a hermenêutica de Ricoeur. Concluímos que esses dois paradoxos podem ser solucionados pela Educação.
