Resumo: | In this text, we focus on textbooks, which are artifacts of school culture, to analyze those used in Normal Schools between 1940 and 1970. The methodology used is the historical approach centered on literature review and documentary research on the period from 1940 to 1970, focusing on the textbooks of Normal Schools. The time frame covers the period when there was an expansion of Normal Schools in Brazil. The results of the study presented in this text indicate that theoretical assumptions emphasize the importance of textbooks as a source of studies in the History of Education and as a cultural artifact, considering the relevance of school culture and the environment of Normal Schools for teacher training and Brazil’s historical and social situation in that period |

La méthodologie utilisée est l'approche historique centrée sur la recherche bibliographique et documentaire dans la période de 1940 à 1970, en privilégiant les manuels scolaires des Ecoles normales. Le calendrier est dû à la période d'expansion dans le fonctionnement des écoles normales au Brésil. Les résultats de l'étude présentés dans ce texte indiquent que les hypothèses théoriques soulignent l'importance des manuels en tant que source d'études en histoire de l'éducation, ainsi qu'un artefact culturel, compte tenu de la pertinence de la culture scolaire et de l'environnement des écoles normales pour les enseignants. formation , compte tenu de la situation historique et sociale du Brésil à cette époque. A metodologia utilizada é a abordagem histórica centrada em pesquisa bibliográfica e documental no período de 1940 a 1970, privilegiando-se os manuais escolares das Escolas Normais. O recorte temporal se deve a época de expansão ao funcionamento das Escolas Normais do Brasil.
