Resumo: With the advance of globalization and the growth of the international market, companies have sought to reduce costs, improve logistical performance, and increase competitiveness. The objective of this article was to optimize the costs of moving containers in a logistical operation (road transport and bonded storage) of maritime import from the Port of Santos. The methodology applied was a quantitative exploratory research, followed by a single case study in an importing retail company. The Lindo 6.1 software was used to formulate and solve the linear programming model in order to optimize the cost reduction of the alternatives involved in the inbound operations of the studied firm. Among the results, it was possible to verify that the linear programming model allowed a reduction in the logistical cost of 3%, when compared to the operating costs currently incurred by the company studied, as well as providing guidance for optimization and better allocation of volumes for service providers road transport and bonded storage.
