Resumo: Objective: to identify and analyze the recent publications on the causes of absenteeism of the Nurse in the Surgical Center and possible forms of coping used individually and at the management level. Method: Systematic review carried out from October 2018 to February 2019, analyzing articles obtained from the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (ScieLo) according to established criteria. Results: 3020 articles were identified, with 05 being the final sample after applying the inclusion / exclusion criteria. Conclusion: efforts to combat worker illness should be prioritized in order not only to reduce absenteeism, but also to allow work to be a place of satisfaction for the professional and consequently for the user. There is a lack of better structured methodologies, focused on the specific characteristics of each profession due to significant differences in assignments and responsibilities, lack of data on different Brazilian social realities and studies that identify, test or analyze interventions and results of strategies implemented by managers in coping with situations that may impact the absenteeism of the Nurse in the Surgical Center.
