Resumo: Introduction: Abortion represents a serious public health problem, with higher incidence in developing countries representing one of the main causes of maternal mortality in Brazil. Therefore, the objective is to verify the profile of women undergoing uterine curettage in a medium-sized hospital in the Federal District, Brazil. Method: This is a retrospective document analysis research, exploratory and descriptive, with a quantitative approach, carried out in a public hospital in the Federal District. Results: The curettage had a rate of 54.03% and the MVA rate of 45.97%; the frequency of procedures in the 12 months analyzed ranged from 5.74% to 11.04%, in relation to the sample of 435 patients; the age group with the highest number of procedures was 25-34 years, with 40.70%, with the other two groups (15-24 years and 35-45 years) with 29.65%. Conclusion: The profile found does not differ substantially from that presented in the literature for Brazil, including the fact that it is up to maternity hospitals in the Federal District to care for patients from neighboring states, as in other regions of the country, which entails an overload.
