Resumo: | The article examines the fight against disinformation agenda pro-posed by mainstream media and fact-checking agencies. By critically analyzing the institutional discourses of those initiatives, it argues that they promote the de-politicization of the democratic dissent by appealing to an authoritarian concept of truth, dichotomizing facts and values, and uncritically endorsing hegemonic institutions. As a counterpoint to that discursive formation, the article claims a pluralist approach to truth, acknowledging discrepant normative values in on-going social disputes in Western democracies. Finally, it is suggested that the measures designed to improve citizens’ critical skills should address conflicting axiologies present in disinformation pieces and encourage a critical reading of journalistic practices. |

Truth and hegemony in the journalistic strategies to deter disinformationVerdade e hegemonia nas estratégias jornalísticas de combate à desinformaçãoThe article examines the fight against disinformation agenda pro-posed by mainstream media and fact-checking agencies. Finally, it is suggested that the measures designed to improve citizens’ critical skills should address conflicting axiologies present in disinformation pieces and encourage a critical reading of journalistic practices.O artigo examina a pauta de enfrentamento à desinformação proposta pela grande imprensa e pelas agências de fact-checking. Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing2022-08-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttps://revistacmc.espm.br/revistacmc/article/view/263710.18568/cmc.v19i55.2637Comunicação Mídia e Consumo; Vol. 19 No. 55 (2022): MAIO/AGOSTOComunicação Mídia e Consumo; Vol. 19 Núm. 55 (2022): MAIO/AGOSTOComunicação Mídia e Consumo; v. 19 n. 55 (2022): MAIO/AGOSTO1983-707010.18568/cmc.v19i55reponame:Comunicação, Mídia e Consumo (Online)instname:Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM)instacron:ESPMporenghttps://revistacmc.espm.br/revistacmc/article/view/2637/pdfhttps://revistacmc.espm.br/revistacmc/article/view/2637/1183Copyright (c) 2022 Comunicação Mídia e Consumoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLelo, Thales Vilela2022-09-26T16:33:23Zoai:ojs.revistacmc.espm.br:article/2637Revistahttps://revistacmc.espm.br/revistacmc/oaiPRIhttp://revistacmc.espm.br/index.php/revistacmc/oaithoff@espm.br||revistacmc@espm.br1983-70701806-4981opendoar:2022-09-26T16:33:23Comunicação, Mídia e Consumo (Online) - Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM)false |
