Resumo: This article presents a discussion of the multicultural approach, based on the readings of texts by Stuart Hall and also on questions of ethnicity and territory, following the text of Arturo Escobar, The Process of Black Community Organizing in the Pacific Coast of Colombia. In that way, the discussions of culture and ethnic identity proposed by the text will be brought, linking them to some questions about mediation and mobilization processes in a black rural community located in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
