A relevância desse tema, no que tange à qualidade da educação profissional na formação de jovens, possibilitou reflexões críticas sobre a docência e suas debilidades no ensino, decorrente do distanciamento entre a formação básica e a formação continuada. Para tanto, buscou lançar um olhar multirreferencial na práxis, na formação dos docentes, na atuação dos egressos e no mundo do trabalho, através de análise de resultados de dados secundários de pesquisa empírica. Foi fundamental para compreender as necessidades formativas, analisar a forma de aquisição de novos conhecimentos, os cursos ofertados pela instituição de ensino e os requisitos para seleção de novos docentes. Esse tema sobre formação continuada é recorrente ao desenvolvimento das inovações tecnológicas, às demandas dos docentes do ensino técnico e às demandas do mundo do trabalho. Vale ressaltar que as evoluções existentes de base tecnológica, isoladamente, não implicam em novos arranjos cognitivos nos cursos técnicos, porém a complexidade dos conhecimentos produzidos exige do docente uma nova forma de pensar e fazer educação no transcorrer da sua trajetória profissional.The focus of analysis of this thesis is continuing education for the professor of the technical program in Electrotechnology. The relevance of this theme as relates to the quality of professional education in the formation of youth made possible critical reflections about professorship and its weaknesses in teaching, due to the distancing between basic education and continuing education. To do this we sought to extend a multi-referential look at the praxis, the formation of the professors, the work of the graduates and at the work world, through the analysis of results from secondary data from empirical research. In order to comprehend the educational needs, it was fundamental that the manner of acquiring new knowledge, the programs offered by the teaching institution and the requirements for selecting new professors be analyzed. This theme of continuing education is recurrent in the development of technological innovations, in the demands of professors of technical education and in the demands of the work world.
