Nursing role in health management in the Covid-19 pandemic

Objective: to characterize the management of Brazilian nursing professionals during the coronavirus pandemic. Method: a systematic literature review was conducted in Scielo, Bireme and VHL, seeking an article published between 2020 and 2022. Results: The results indicate that there was an overload, especially of nursing professionals, who also began to perform functions of patient triage and teleconsultation, as well as support for the removal of patients in conditions of worsening of the disease. The prominence of the nursing profession during the COVID-19 pandemic period was revealed and discussed. It is vitally important to develop evidence-based strategies that respond to new health demands at the first level of care. Conclusion: nurses play a fundamental role in management and primary care in the planning, connection and coordination of care; therefore, it is important for policymakers, instructors, and leaders to seek to develop competencies in their team to ensure staff retention and quality of care.
