Resumo: Understanding the importance of the theme of violence against women in times of global crisis, the objective of this article is to analyze how themes of the female universe are represented in Brazilian telenovelas in its historical-cultural context. The research focuses mainly on TV Globo's contributions to the country's audiovisual fiction catalog, due to its reach and audience. After reviewing the state of the art on the concept of social representation (Durkheim, 1895, 1912; Hall, 2016; Foucault, 1980), and its relationship with the images of women (Beauvoir, 1949), a chronology of the advances experienced by Brazilian women, such as the right to divorce and the legislation on domestic violence, addressed in soap operas is analyzed accordingly.

A pesquisa se concentra nas contribuições da TV Globo para o catálogo de ficção audiovisual do país, por sua abrangência e audiência.
