Professional training in public security of RS: analysis from its couses, police schools and academies

Resumo: The article deals with the training of public security professionals in the State of RS based on the analysis of their courses, their police schools  and academies. The advances and challenges in this field after the Federal Constitution of 1988 and adoption of the National Curriculum Matrix that sought to standardize the training actions of Brazilian police officers were studied. Teaching managers from state police institutions were interviewed and the curricular meshes of their training courses were analyzed, seeking to identify advances, challenges, and changes in the search for more citizen and participatory training for these professionals. The study methodology consisted of a bibliographic and documentary analysis on the subject, a quantitative survey of the subjects, workloads and qualitative research with the teaching managers. The results point to advances with adherence to the thematic areas and articulating axes of the Matrix, expansion in the list of humanistic disciplines and a greater focus on citizen security.

Foram estudados os avanços e desafios neste campo pós-Constituição Federal de 1988 e da adoção da Matriz Curricular Nacional que buscou uniformizar as ações formativas dos policiais brasileiros. Foram entrevistados gestores de ensino das instituições policiais estaduais e analisadas as malhas curriculares dos seus cursos de formação, buscando identificar avanços, desafios e mudanças na busca por uma formação mais cidadã e participativa destes profissionais. A metodologia do estudo consistiu na análise bibliográfica e documental sobre o tema, em levantamento quantitativo das disciplinas, cargas horárias e pesquisa qualitativa junto aos gestores de ensino.
