Informal learning in Argentina: Contributions to workers’ education

Resumo: Education and training for work within the framework of lifelong education recognizes the learning that adults do outside formal education and organized courses, in relation to paid work and other areas of social life. Based on the ArCaWall survey applied to the adult population from Greater Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2011 and 2021, the article looks at changes in the extension, topics and time dedicated to informal learning during the last decade, taking into account differences among genders, age groups, occupational status and educational level achieved. Among the results, it highlights the importance of access to the educational system as a foundation for other educational opportunities throughout life.

El artículo da cuenta, a partir de la encuesta ArCaWall aplicada a población adulta en el Gran Buenos Aires (Argentina) en 2011 y 2021, de los cambios en la extensión, las temáticas y el tiempo dedicado a aprendizajes informales en la última década, considerando las diferencias entre géneros, grupos de edad, condición de ocupación y el nivel educativo alcanzado. Entre los resultados destaca la importancia del acceso al sistema educativo, como base para el aprovechamiento de otras oportunidades de educación a lo largo de la vida.Résumé Dans le cadre de l’éducation tout au long de la vie, l’éducation et la formation au travail reconnaissent les apprentissages que les adultes hommes et femmes réalisent en dehors de l’éducation formelle et des cours organisés, pour leur travail rémunéré ou pour d’autres domaines de la vie sociale. À partir de l’enquête ArCaWall, réalisée en 2011 et en 2021, soumise à la population adulte du Grand Buenos Aires, en Argentine, l’article examine les changements en terme d’apprentissage informel ayant eu lieu dans cette région au cours de la dernière décennie, concernant son extension, les thèmes qui y sont abordés et le temps qui lui y est consacré, en tenant compte des différences de genre, de groupes d’âge, de statut professionnel et de niveau d’éducation. Parmi les résultats, ressorte l’importance de l’accès au système éducatif comme moyen de profiter d’autres opportunités éducatives tout au long de la vie.A educação e a formação para o trabalho no âmbito da educação ao longo da vida reconhecem as aprendizagens que os adultos realizam fora do ensino formal e dos cursos organizados, em relação ao trabalho remunerado e outros âmbitos da vida social. O artigo trata, a partir da pesquisa ArCaWall aplicada à população adulta da Grande Buenos Aires (Argentina) em 2011 e 2021, das mudanças na extensão, nos temas e no tempo dedicado à aprendizagem informal, na última década, considerando as diferenças entre gêneros, faixas etárias, condição de ocupação e nível educacional alcançado.
