Quality Practices, Corporate Social Responsibility and the “Society Results” Criterion of the EFQM Model

Resumo: Purpose – The purpose of this research is to analyze whether qualitymanagement practices implemented and carried out by the ruralaccommodation establishments under study influence society resultsobtained by organizations, which are understood as the participationtherein and the development of local community.´Design/methodology/approach – The working methodology consistsof carrying out an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in orderto test the psychometric properties of measurement scales, and thehypothesized relationships between critical factors and society resultsare examined using structural equation modeling.Findings – The study provides evidence of a weak relationship betweenthe critical factors of quality and society results in rural accommodationestablishments. The results suggest that process management is the onlyquality practice that has a direct effect on society results and the restof the critical factors are considered antecedents of it.Originality/value – The contribution of this study, which exploresthe impact of the critical factors of quality on society results, is toconfirm that there is an effect of the critical factors of quality on societyresults (social and environmental responsibilities) through the directrelationship of process management. Very few studies examine thisrelationship.

Very few studies examine thisrelationship.Objetivo – O objetivo deste estudo é analisar se as práticas de gestãoda qualidade implementadas e realizadas pelos estabelecimentos dealojamento rural estudados influenciam os resultados na sociedadeobtidos pelas organizações, sendo esses resultados entendidos comoa participação na mesma e o desenvolvimento da comunidade local.Metodologia – A metodologia de trabalho consiste em uma análisefatorial exploratória e confirmatória para aferir as propriedadespsicométricas das escalas de medida. As hipóteses de relação entre osfatores críticos e os resultados na sociedade são examinadas utilizandoseo modelo de equações estruturais.Resultados – O estudo evidencia a existência de uma relação frágilentre os fatores críticos da qualidade e os resultados na sociedade dosestabelecimentos de alojamento rural. Os resultados sugerem que agestão de processos é a única prática de qualidade que tem um efeitodireto sobre os resultados na sociedade.
