The use of Benchmarketing in the elaboration of Strategic Planning: an important tool for the maximization of the organizational competitiveness

Resumo: | This article demonstrates the importance of benchmarking in the preparation of strategic planning. Such planning establishes directions to be followed by the company in order to seize opportunities and repel risks. Among the analysis that comprises the strategic planning, that of the organization’s internal systems should be pointed out, which enables to check its strengthening and weaknesses. A way to identify and analyze the latter is through the Benchmarking. This technique allows the company to check and compare practices adopted by other companies – direct competitors or not – which show a high performance in their functions and incorporates in its critical success factors the best of those companies. The ongoing search for excellence constitutes the objective of companies using benchmarking, aiming to maximize their competitiveness and reach a superiority level above that of their players. Esta planificación establece la dirección que la empresa deberá seguir para aprovechar las oportunidades y alejar los riesgos. Entre los análisis que lo constituyen, se destaca el de los sistemas internos de la organización, que permite verificar sus puntos fuertes y débiles. Pueden identificarse y analizarse por medio del benchmarking. Con el uso de esta técnica, la empresa puede verificar y comparar las prácticas de las demás, competidoras directas o no, que demuestran desempeño superior en sus funciones y que incorporan en sus factores críticos de éxito lo mejor que hay. La búsqueda continuada de la excelencia constituye el objetivo de las organizaciones que utilizan el benchmarking. Estas tienen como objetivo maximizar su competitividad y alcanzar un nivel de superioridad que sobrepase al de sus competidores.Palabras clave: Benchmarking. Planificación estratégica. Competitividad. Superioridad.Este artigo consiste em demonstrar a importância da utilização do benchmarking na elaboração do planejamento estratégico. Tal planejamento estabelece a direção que a empresa deverá seguir para aproveitar as oportunidades e afastar os riscos. Entre as análises que o compreendem, destaca-se a dos sistemas internos da organização o que torna possível a verificação de seus pontos fortes e fracos. Uma maneira de identifica-los e analisa-los é através do benchmarking. Esta técnica permite que a empresa verifique e compare as práticas de outras, concorrentes diretas ou não, que demonstram um desempenho superior em suas funções e incorpore em seus fatores críticos de sucesso o que houver de melhor. A contínua busca pela excelência constitui o objetivo das organizações que utilizam o benchmarking.
