Resumo: This article examines the process of institutionalizing a patron to the Brazilian Army, carried through the 1920's. As a result, the celebration of General Osório, who was honored until then as the most important Brazilian soldier, gave its place to a "worship of Caxias", the new ideal soldier for Brazil.
