Resumo: Focusing on the demands for recognition of Quebec, the article discusses to what extent the notions of political culture and/or common public culture allow for the constitution of a political community where the actors see their identities recognized and their citizenship rights are respected. The analysis suggests that ideas like constitutional patriotism, when completely dissociated from substantive identity symbols, represent a manifestation of alienation of the citizens civic consciousness.

A análise sugere que idéias como a de patriotismo constitucional, quando totalmente dissociadas de símbolos identitários substantivos, representam uma manifestação de alienação da consciência cívica dos cidadãos.Editora FGV1999-12-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/2101Revista Estudos Históricos; Vol. 13 No. 24 (1999): Political Culture; 419-430Revista Estudos Históricos; v. 13 n. 24 (1999): Cultura Política; 419-4302178-14940103-2186reponame:Estudos Históricos (Rio de Janeiro)instname:Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)instacron:FGVporhttps://periodicos.fgv.br/reh/article/view/2101/1240Oliveira, L.
