Resumo: Information technology has evolved dramatically in the past decades, thus creating new opportunities for the use of hardware, software and telecommunications components. This paper comments on the reality and potentials of the use of information technology in the health sectOl: Many initiatives in the public and private sectors are seeking to better explore the potentials of information technology. As they become reality, they help tostrengthen the information age for the health sector as well.
