Resumo: The case aims to discuss the specificities of governance mechanisms in family firms. After facing financial and personal problems, the chief executive of a pediatric hospital decides that it is time for his two heirs to understand the business for a future succession. The three join a family firms management course to understand which governance mechanisms are useful to the business. During the course, they realize that none of the governance mechanisms described in the literature exists in the company with 60 years in the market. How did they survive so far then?
