Resumo: This paper aimed to present a discussion about control theory in organization studies. In order to do it, we will propose two perspectives: one focused in coordinative and functional aspects of control in organization; and another focused in contradiction and in social aspects of the organizational control. The first is the traditional point of view in organizational theory and will be named Functionalist Perspective and the second will be named Critical Perspective, and is a no traditional point of view in this field of study. To represent the second perspective we will present an organizational theory called "Economia Política do Poder".

Nesse sentido, definiremos o termo a partir de duas diferentes perspectivas, uma de cunho funcionalista, com ênfase nos aspectos coordenativos e funcionais do controle em relação ao organismo organizacional, e uma segunda de cunho crítico, enfatizando a explicitação das contradições sociais inerentes ao fenômeno.
