Resumo: | This article synthesizes Brazilian medicinal plants considered potential phytotherapics from the perspective of Brazilian regulation throughout the analysis of species lists and botanical monographs reported by the Brazilian Sanitary Agency and the Ministry of Health, such as the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia (FB) and the Phytotherapics Form (FFFB) (“ANVISA/MS Lists”). It also compiles Amazonian medicinal species from the perspective of Research and Development of future plant lists published by the Brazilian government and amongst others lists published in books and scientific articles (R&D Lists). Of the 399 species analyzed, 64 are native to the ANVISA/MS list, 49 are Amazonian, and of these, 18 are in the FB and/or FFFB, 36 in the National List of Medicinal Plants of Interest to the Unified Health System (RENISUS) and one in the National List of Essential Medicines (RENAME). There are 240 native species in the R&D Lists, 59 of them in common with the ANVISA/MS list. Phytotherapeutic potentials of 14 Brazilian species can be registered in simplified form or notified to ANVISA, five of them are Amazonian species: Justicia pectoralis, Libidia ferrea, Phyllanthus niruri, Paullinia cupana and Uncaria tomentosa. Only the last two, guaraná and cat's claw, currently comprise phytotherapics with valid registrations in ANVISA. |
