Resumo: The innate immune system recognizes chemical structures of the virus and activates cells capable of blocking viral infection, it also activates the adaptive immune system that develops antibodies that can destroy or immobilize viruses. Analogously, chemical components of plants and yeasts in natural products can act as activators of the immune system, which could provide a defence against infection. Herein we examine various natural products from food and medicinal plants whose chemical components can possibly contribute in the defence against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Sistema imune inato e adaptativo. Reconhecimento de vírus. SARS-CoV-2.
