Introduction: In January 2020, the World Health Organization launched a pandemic due to Covid-19. Consequently, there was a need for abrupt and compulsory adoption of social isolation and the transition from face-to-face teaching to remote teaching. The modality was authorized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) for the medicine course, for theoretical-cognitive subjects, with practical activities being vetoed. Objetive: This study aims to identify the impacts of the pandemic and remote teaching on the learning of medical students. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, based on data collected through the application of a questionnaire to 145 students from the 3rd to the 8th period of the medicine course at Centro Universitário Governador Ozanam Coelho (UNIFAGOC). Results: Medical students experienced a sharp drop in their academic performance and learning, both theoretical and practical, during the pandemic. There was an emphasis on the emergence of symptoms of anxiety and depression. Conclusion: Remote teaching worked in a complementary way, proving to be useful for the continuity of studies during the pandemic period.
