Resumo: | Anxiety is a condition that leads to significant losses in children, and for that reason, the study on possible interventions regarding treatment and reduction of the symptoms is a subject of the utmost social and academic relevance. Thus, the general objective of the research consists in identifying if the Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is effective in reducing anxiety in children. The specific objectives are: (a) to characterize how anxiety in children manifests and its damages to the child; (b) to identify the strategies of intervention of the CBT for handling anxiety in children; (c) to describe what the appropriate literature advises about the data of effectiveness of the CBT in reducing anxiety in children. The literature review has been chosen as a methodological approach. According to the published literature, the approach of the CBT has shown satisfactory results when intervening anxiety in children, either for more effective results in a larger number of patients rather than other approaches, or for offering longer results, either in the medium or in the long term. Thus, one may conclude that the CBT is effective in reducing the symptoms of anxiety in children. |
