Resumo: RESUMOO presente artigo consiste em um recorte do primeiro capítulo da dissertação de mestrado, apresentada à Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, cujo título original é “A Geografia escolar tem tudo pra ser e não é. Por quê?”. Aqui procuramos apresentar a discussão introdutória da dissertação que objetiva colocar em evidência o descontentamento de alunos e professores quanto ao ensino de Geografia na Educação Básica (Ensino Fundamental e Médio). Palavras-chave: Ensino de Geografia. Lacoste. Memorização. Permanências. ABSTRACTThis article consists of a snip of the first chapter of the dissertation , presented to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, whose original title is "School Geography has everything to be and is not. Because?". Here we try to introduce the introductory discussion of the dissertation which aims to highlight the dissatisfaction of students and teachers on the teaching of geography in basic education (primary and secondary schools). Key Words: Geography Teaching.
