RESUMO Estuda a transformação da paisagem, sobretudo agrária, da região compreendida pelos vales dos rios Paraim e Alto Gurguéia, no Piauí, e pela margem esquerda do rio São Francisco, desde o vale do Rio Grande, na Bahia, até o do Urucuia, em Minas Gerais. O recorte temporal do estudo se estende dos princípios do século XVIII até os meados do século XX. Analyses the changes in the landscape, mainly the agrarian one, over the region from the Paraim and the Alto Gurguéia valleys, in the state of Piauí, as well as in the left margin of the São Francisco river, from Rio Grande, in the state of Bahia, to the Urucuia valleys, the latter in the state of Minas Gerais. The study covers the period from the beginnings of the XVIII century to the middle of the XX century. L’auteur étudie la transformation du paysage, surtout agraire, de la région comprise entre les vallées des fleuves Paraim et du haut Gurguéia, dans l’Etat du Piauí, et de la rive gauche du fleuve São Francisco, depuis les vallées du Rio Grande, dans l’Etat de Bahia jusqu’à celui d’Urucuia, dans l’Etat de Minas Gerais. L’époque étudiée s’étend du XVIII ème siècle jusqu’au milieu du XX ème siècle.
