Resumo: Triclosan is widely used in domestic and nosocomial places. One of the targets of triclosan is an enoyl-reductase present in M. tuberculosis and also is the main target to isoniazid (INH), which is an important drug for treatment of tuberculosis. The use of biocides that share similar targets with antimicrobials of human use can generate cross-resistance with these ones and it must be carefully evaluated. In this study was determined the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of triclosan and INH to 46 clinical isolates of M. tuberculosis, previously identified as INH resistant by the proportion method. High levels of resistance to INH and susceptibility to triclosan were found in all strains.

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande2009-08-07info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vittalle/article/view/95210.14295/vittalle.v20i1.952VITTALLE - Revista de Ciências da Saúde; v. 20 n. 1 (2008); 99-1062177-78531413-3563reponame:Vittalle (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)instacron:FURGporhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vittalle/article/view/952/397Copyright (c) 2014 VITTALLE - Revista de Ciências da Saúdeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGautério, Daiane PortoRibeiro, Marta OsórioVon Groll, AndreaSilva, MárciaRamos, Daniela FernandesRossetti, Maria LuciaScaini, Carlos JamesSilva, Pedro Eduardo Almeida da2013-12-11T17:34:17Zoai:periodicos.furg.br:article/952Revistahttps://periodicos.furg.br/vittallePUBhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vittalle/oaivittalle@furg.br2177-78531413-3563opendoar:2013-12-11T17:34:17Vittalle (Online) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)false
