Resumo: Toxocarosis or visceral larva migrans (VLM) syndrome is an underestimated public health problem. The ingestion of embryonated eggs of Toxocara canis is well-known as the main way of infection for humans, but there is the possibility of occurrence by vertical transmission. Besides, it has been recorded in mice experimentally infected during pregnancy. This study aimed to record the occurrence of vertical transmission of T. canis larvae in seven BALB/C female mice with chronic toxocarosis, which were subject to mating 60 days after the experimental infection. Larvae were found in the brain of 19.6% (10/51) of the offspring. Given the vertical transmission by T. canis larvae in experimental models with chronic Toxocarosis, investigating its occurrence in humans is made important.
