Resumo:   This article presents three projects that after much research and study within the Graduate Program in Computational Modelling in Science and Technology (PPGMC-UESC), resulted in dissertations. The projects that will be shown coming from the result of dedication and professional improvement that bring to society the viability and practicality of technological alternatives to be applied in cocoa agriculture. The first project proposes a technology for drying almonds grain using solar energy. In this first project, we describe a vertical greenhouse filled with trays overlapping along its height; these trays contain a layer of fresh almonds. The second project presents a system that captures solar energy through a series of parabolic collectors, converting light into thermal energy, and, via a working fluid, transfers the heat to a thermal energy storage tank (TES). The accumulated energy of a salt container is used to heat the airstream overnight, drying the cocoa beans uniformly. The third project investigates the factors that influence the output of biogas generated in a biodigester for electric energy production in a cocoa farm. These projects contribute with alternative technologies applicable in cocoa production in the South of Bahia region and help producers increase their knowledge in favour of a quality and competitive production, thus demonstrating the social impact of the academic program to the society.

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande2022-12-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/article/view/1419110.14295/vetor.v32i2.14191VETOR - Journal of Exact Sciences and Engineering; Vol. 32 No. 2 (2022); 37-54VETOR - Revista de Ciências Exatas e Engenharias; v. 32 n. 2 (2022); 37-542358-34520102-7352reponame:Vetor (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)instacron:FURGporhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/article/view/14191/10003Copyright (c) 2022 VETOR - Revista de Ciências Exatas e Engenhariasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSales, Jorge HenriqueOliveira, Francisco Bruno SouzaSegundo, Gesil Sampaio AmaranteJesus, Gildson Queiroz deSantos, EvertonSoglia, LuizBrito, Rafaela Cristina 2022-12-28T14:09:24Zoai:periodicos.furg.br:article/14191Revistahttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetorPUBhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/oaigmplatt@furg.br2358-34520102-7352opendoar:2022-12-28T14:09:24Vetor (Online) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)false
