Environmental education in university management: some thorny issues for reflection   Abstract. Based on data from author's thesis (2017) and references from Critical Theory and Critical EE, this study aims to: problematize the socio-environmental training of public servants working in university management. The data corpus was produced from interviews in focus groups, memories of meetings and field notes.  Three categories emerged that present thorny aspects of EE in university management: i) the controversial role of “non-teachers” in environmental education; ii) the place of environmental management in EE (or is it the opposite?); iii) the dilemma of “knowing how to disclose something”.  The contributions of Critical Theory and Critical EE point to the following: i) the importance of addressing the tension between theory and practice; ii) the importance of understanding that EE cannot do without educational and training processes, although it does not need to exclude the environmental management; iii) the current scenario of the cultural industry when we notice the superficiality of the approach of some contents in EE processes.
