HOME PHARMACY AND THE DISPOSAL OF MEDICINES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SÃO JOÃO DA BOA VISTA – SP

Resumo: The majority of the Brazilian population has some type of medicine stored athome, and this contributes to the existence of the home pharmacy, that is, a small homestock of medicines, leading to self-medication. Given the above, the present work aimedto obtain data from a population on the practice of self-medication, as well as the storageand disposal of medicines. This is a cross-sectional descriptive research, aiming to guidethe population regarding the proper way of storing and disposing of them. This study wascarried out in São João da Boa Vista in the state of São Paulo, through surveys carried outat home with interviews and data collection using a form designed for this research.During the study it was found that all biologicals have a stock of medicine at home andthat 53% use some medicine and most biologicals were female, 60%. In relation to drugsfound in pharmacies, homemade or analgesics, 96.00% were the most found, followed byanti-inflammatory drugs, 49.00%. Regarding the disposal of medicines, 53% dispose ofthem in the common trash and 19% in the toilet. In terms of information about correctdisposal, 94% say they have not received it. I concluded that there is a need for awarenessand education work in the community about the correct storage of medicines and waysof disposing of them, with the help of health professionals, highlighting the pharmacist.

Diante do exposto o presente trabalho objetivou a obter dados de uma população sobre a prática da automedicação, bem como o armazenamento e o descarte dos medicamentos. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva transversal, visando a orientação da população quanto à forma adequada de armazenamento e o descarte dos mesmos. Esse estudo foi realizado em São João da Boa Vista do estado de São Paulo, por meio de pesquisas feita em domicílio com entrevistas e coleta de dados utilizando um formulário elaborado para essa pesquisa. Durante o estudo constatou que a totalidade dos entrevistados possuem um estoque de medicamento em casa e que 53% fazem uso de algum medicamento e maioria dos entrevistados foi do sexo feminino sendo 60%.  Em relação de medicamentos encontrados nas farmácias caseiras os analgésicos foram mais encontrados 96,00% seguido de anti-inflamatórios 49,00%. Sobre o descarte de medicamentos 53% descartam no lixo comum e 19% vaso sanitário.
