Resumo: Toxoplasmosis, a globally disseminated zoonosis, has variable prevalence in different regions of the world, but its impact is particularly pronounced in women of childbearing age, given the direct implications for pregnancy and fetal development. The promotion of strategic family planning also stands out as an integral component. By discussing the possibility of toxoplasmosis infection and its implications for pregnancy, combined with safe contraceptive methods, primary care offers an informed basis for women to make informed decisions about the appropriate time for pregnancy. Methodology: This study adopts an integrative literature review approach, seeking to gather and synthesize research results on toxoplasmosis in women of childbearing age, organizing the information in a systematic and orderly manner, based on previous studies. Results and Discussion: Toxoplasmosis during pregnancy is of particular concern due to the risks of vertical transmission of the Toxoplasma gondii parasite to the fetus. Women who experienced toxoplasmosis infection during pregnancy and their children face an increased risk of recurrence in later pregnancies. Early diagnosis, appropriate counseling and preventive interventions are crucial to minimize the risks associated with congenital toxoplasmosis, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach among healthcare professionals to optimize care and outcomes for the fetus. Conclusion: In conclusion, addressing toxoplasmosis in women of childbearing age in primary health care demands a holistic and scientific approach. From family planning to treatment, effective management of this parasitic disease involves screening, education, counseling and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-01-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/135510.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n1p2120-2132Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2120-2132Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2120-2132Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 1 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2120-21322674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1355/1533Copyright (c) 2024 Suzana Mioranza Bif , Carolina de Paula Marquetti , Graziela Giongo da Silva , Sara Buss Kiefer , Elara Coimbra Loss, Talita kesly Ferreira de Souza Mendes , Poliana Dias de Freitas Jochen, Thais Dias Zumack , Maria Denize Lelo Santiago Nettahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Bif , Suzana MioranzaMarquetti , Carolina de Paula Silva , Graziela Giongo daKiefer , Sara BussLoss, Elara Coimbra Mendes , Talita kesly Ferreira de SouzaJochen, Poliana Dias de FreitasZumack , Thais DiasNetta, Maria Denize Lelo Santiago2024-01-29T20:38:41Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1355Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-01-29T20:38:41Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
