Resumo: | Cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, which is the primary cause, are the leading causes of death in the world. Chronic diseases, such as periodontal disease, have been seen as a risk factor for atherosclerosis, as well as smoking, systemic diseases, stress, obesity and others. And with that much has been studied about the mechanism that the periodontal disease could influence atherosclerosis, as it could alter or worsen the course of cardiovascular disease pathologies. The pathogenic group of diseases has in common the risk factors such as age, smoking, and in particular high levels of lipoproteins seric. And studies say that the possibility of having an interaction between microorganisms of the periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease directly or indirectly. Other authors also comment on periodontal therapy, scaling and root planing, which observed improvements in patients had decreased serum levels compared to patients with poor periodontal clinical response. However, it has not been determined consensus on how the interrelationship between periodontal and cardiovascular diseases occurs, There is a clear need for further research to better clarify the association between these diseases. The purpose of this review is to show, based on evidence scientific research, seeking the interrelationship between periodontal disease (mainly periodontitis), and cardiovascular disease. For the development of the study, analyzes of scientific articles, in addition to specific books in the area of Dentistry and Medicine. |

The purpose of this review is to show, based on evidence scientific research, seeking the interrelationship between periodontal disease (mainly periodontitis), and cardiovascular disease. For the development of the study, analyzes of scientific articles, in addition to specific books in the area of Dentistry and Medicine. Specialized Dentistry Group2023-09-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/57410.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n4p2556-2567Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2556-2567Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2556-2567Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2556-25672674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/574/691Copyright (c) 2023 Milena Guzzo Nicaretta, Bernardo Oliveira de Campos, Leandro Cecim, Guilherme Bianchine de Mourahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNicaretta, Milena GuzzoCampos, Bernardo Oliveira deCecim, LeandroMoura, Guilherme Bianchine de2023-09-26T00:07:51Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/574Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-09-26T00:07:51Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
