The work process of health professionals at a family health unit in a pandemic scenario by covid-19

In January 2020, the World Health Organization declared covid 19 as a Public Health emergency, and later, in March of the same year, it was recognized as a pandemic. Brazil registered the first case in February 2020. This new epidemiological scenario would require Primary Health Care (PHC) to reorganize the work process and care flows to tackle the problem and guarantee the population's access to services. Objective: to report the work process of health professionals at a Family Health Unit in a municipality in Bahia in the face of a pandemic scenario caused by Covid-19. Method: This is a descriptive observational study of the experience report type. Results and discussion: The work process was reorganized, incorporating care technologies, such as teleconsultation, telemonitoring, implementation of reception with risk classification, readjustment of the physical environment and intensification of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Conclusion: PHC plays a strategic role in actions to combat covid-19 in the territory and the strategies used by the USF allowed the population to access the service, even in the face of the restriction of some routine activities. However, losses were observed in the longitudinal care of users and in the training process of undergraduate and graduate students due to the interruption of academic activities as a safety measure.
