Resumo: | Violence against women (VAW) is a complex and multifaceted episode, involving different systems, social and mental aspects, established by gender differences. This article aims to describe the main violence against women with disabilities and their invisibility within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS). This is an integrative review study, carried out in the following databases: Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/WHO, Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (BIREME), also including the Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), in the languages Portuguese, English, and Spanish, with a final sample of 14 articles. The texts were organized according to their central topic of discussion in categories. This study sought to discuss aspects of violence against women, especially women with disabilities, considering the lack of attention and understanding of this social phenomenon in this specific public. Despite the several resources to promote women’s rights and combat the violence suffered by them, many violence cases are trivialized, not receiving the necessary measures to reduce violence rates. Finally, we emphasize the need for efforts to reduce the vulnerabilities of the health sector itself, to improve its actions and the need for a gradual change in the profile of professionals, to provide the best care for the victim. |
