The Agroecology Center at the University of Brasília: contributions and perspectives on learning, research and extension

Resumo: The Agroecology Study Centers (NEAs), present in universities, technological institutes and federal and state agricultural research centers, represent one of the most important legacies of the 2003 National Policy for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (PNATER), also materialized through the National Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production (PNAPO), and a highlight among the achievements of the Brazilian agroecological movement. In this article, we discuss the trajectory of the design, implementation and performance of the NEA of the University of Brasilia (UnB), and present a contextualization of the socio-productive realities in each of the four territories in which the NEA operates: Chapadinha-DF; Pipiripau Basin-DF; Mambaí-GO; and Noroeste de Minas-MG. The objective is to contribute to the discussion of the challenges of implementing and operating the Agroecology Centers at universities, and to share some lessons learned, as well as expectations of continuity in a political scenario that is not favorable to Agroecology in the country.

En este artículo discutimos la trayectoria del diseño, implementación y desempeño del NEA de la Universidad de Brasilia (UnB), y presentamos una contextualización de las realidades socio-productivas en cada uno de los cuatro territorios en los que opera el NEA: Chapadinha-DF; Cuenca de Pipiripau-DF; Mambaí-GO; y al norte de Minas-MG. El objetivo es contribuir a la discusión de los desafíos de implementar y actuar en interacción agroecológica en redes, compartir algunas lecciones aprendidas, y expectativas de continuidad en un escenario político no favorable a la Agroecología en el país.  Os Núcleos de Estudo em Agroecologia (NEAs), presentes em universidades, institutos tecnológicos e centros de pesquisa agropecuária federais e estaduais, representam um dos mais importantes legados da Política Nacional de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Pnater) de 2003, materializados também por meio da Política Nacional de Agroecologia e Produção Orgânica (Pnapo), e é um marco de destaque entre as conquistas do movimento agroecológico brasileiro. Neste artigo, discutimos a trajetória da concepção, implementação e atuação do NEA da Universidade de Brasília (UnB), e apresentamos uma contextualização das realidades socioprodutivas em cada um dos quatro territórios de atuação do NEA: Chapadinha-DF; bacia do Pipiripau-DF; Mambaí-GO; e Noroeste de Minas-MG.
